Southampton is widely recognised as the cruise capital of Europe. The Port of Southampton plays host to a wide variety of cruise lines, including P&O Cruises, Cunard, Royal Caribbean, MSC and Princess Cruises, and welcomes more than three million passengers to the city each year.
There has also been several new ships entering the waters with sailing out of the city. Since spring 2020, P&O Cruises’ Iona, the largest-ever ship purpose-built for the UK market, has been based in its homeport of Southampton. In December 2022, Southampton also saw the launch of Arvia which also has had several sailings out of the city.
